Fort Recovery holds on vs. Cardinals (05/06/05)

Fort Recovery roundup

FORT RECOVERY — The New Bremen Cardinals threatened in the seventh inning, but the Fort Recovery softball team held on for a 2-0 victory Thursday.

New Bremen put runners on second and third base with one out in the seventh inning, but senior pitcher Alyssa Tobe and the Indian defense held strong. Second baseman Ciera Rammel tracked down a fly ball on the edge of the center field grass for the second out, and Tobe induced a ground ball to end the game.

The victory improved the Indians to 9-7 overall at 4-1 in the Midwest Athletic Conference.

Fort Recovery, which scored both of its runs in the third inning, got two hits and a run from Megan Wenning. Ciera Rammel singled and scored a run, Krystal Rammel had a single and an RBI and Kristen Schwieterman drove in a run.

Tobe picked up the win, allowing six hits in seven scoreless innings. She struck out five and walked one.
