Fort Recovery ranked ninth in D-IV

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A road win in front of a sell-out crowd against a state-ranked team proved to be quite convincing.
On the power of its overtime victory Friday over the Coldwater Cavaliers, the Fort Recovery High School boys basketball team jumped into the state's top 10 Monday. The Indians were voted No. 9 in the state in Division IV this week by The Associated Press.
The Tribe, which finished 13th in the voting last week, is 10-1 and earned 55 poll points. They were three points ahead of 10th-ranked Miller City (8-2) and three behind No. 8 Berlin Hiland (9-0).
Newark Catholic (10-0) remains atop the Division IV poll with 248 points.
Fort Recovery avenged its only loss of the season Friday, knocking off the Cavaliers 56-51 in overtime in front of their first sell-out crowd (2,400 fans) since 1993. Coldwater (8-1), which was No. 4 in Division III last week, dropped to No. 5 in this week's poll. St. Henry (7-3) is ranked ninth in Division III.
Girls take first loss
MINSTER, Ohio - The Fort Recovery freshman girls suffered their first defeat of the year Monday, falling 30-29 to the Minster Wildcats.
Kelsey Fiely scored seven points for the Indians, who are now 5-1. Chelsea Pottkotter added six points.
'Cats top freshman boys
FORT RECOVERY - The Minster Wildcats dropped the Fort Recovery freshman boys to 1-4 Monday as the Indians lost 44-39.
Chad Schroer was the lone Tribe player in double figures as he totaled 11 points. Jacob Schoen scored nine points.[[In-content Ad]]
