COLUMBUS, Ohio — A three-win week kept the Indians firmly in the state’s top 10.
Fort Recovery stayed at No. 9 in the Division IV high school boys basketball poll released Monday by The Associated Press.
The Indians (14-2) held their place in the rankings after victories over Greeneview at the Flyin’ to the Hoop invitational, Coldwater and Fort Loramie. They have won seven straight games.
Fort Recovery earned 66 poll points, finishing three behind No. 8 Newark Catholic (13-2) and 20 ahead of tenth-ranked Toledo Christian (12-1). St. Henry (15-1) continues to hold the top spot in the poll with 211 points.
Versailles (12-2), a team the Indians defeated 61-60 on a buzzer-beater by Wade Gelhaus in overtime, is ranked eighth in Division III. New Bremen (13-3) finished 12th in the Division IV voting.

Fort boys earn sweep
FOSTORIA, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s boys swim team picked up two wins Saturday, defeating St. Wendelin 44-14 and Fostoria 43-30.
The Tribe girls defeated St. Wendelin 70-11, but lost 56-36 to Fostoria.
Three boys each won a pair of events to lead the Indians, with Andy Gray finishing first in the 100-yard freestyle and 500 freestyle. Lane Hull took the top spot in the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle, and Marshall Hull earned victories in the 50 freestyle and 200 individual medley.
Jon Sutter, Gray, Lane Hull and Marshall Hull also teamed to win the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.
Cori Stone earned the lone victory for the girls team, taking first place in the 200 individual medley.

Indian freshmen split
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery freshman boys basketball team dominated the first half Monday on the way to a 58-42 victory over Minster. The girls team lost, 34-24.

Jackson Hobbs led a group of six players who had seven or more points as he scored 12 for the Indians, who built a 21-point halftime lead. Wes Wenning joined him in double figures with 11 points.
Kelsey Evers finished with 10 points to lead the FRHS girls team. Hallory Leuthold added six.

Chiefs close with wins
The East Jay Middle School girls basketball teams closed their seasons with victories on Monday.
The eighth grade squad rolled to a 45-26 win over Muncie Northside while the seventh graders picked up a 33-29 victory.
Taylor Homan scored 11 points to lead the eighth grade Chiefs, who finished the season 16-2. Catera Gierhart added eight points.
Betsy Muhlenkamp racked up 18 points to lead the seventh grade squad, which built an 11-4 lead in the first quarter on the way to the win. Brianna Muhlenkamp followed with eight points.

EJMS crushes Bears
PARKER CITY — East Jay’s wrestling team cruised to a 75-12 victory Monday over the host Monroe Central Golden Bears.
Kaimen Sanders (95), Dustin Bricker (100), Brandon Resler (120) and Gaven Hare (160) all picked up victories with pins. Adding wins by decision were Davis Anderson (80), Caleb Chenoweth (90) and Ben Antrim (135).
Tyler Leonhard (152) won by injury default.
Adding exhibition victories were Derek Bryan (80), Jose Bermudez (85), Henry Hemmelgarn (100), Brandon Resler (115), Daniel Ostrowski (125) and Leonhard.[[In-content Ad]]
