Fort Recovery tops Patriots in 3

FORT RECOVERY — A victory Tuesday gave the Tribe back-to-back wins for just the second time this season. The loss for the Patriots’ ended their first winning streak of the year.
Fort Recovery fought off Jay County in close second and third games for a 25-13, 25-22, 25-23 sweep in the state line high school volleyball battle.
Kelsey Fiely paced the Indians (6-11), who defeated Old Fort in the final match of Saturday’s Crestview Invitational. She had nine service points and seven digs.
Hannah Ainsworth, the lone Patriot senior, totaled 19 assists, 11 digs and 10 service points. JCHS (7-20) had picked up three victories Saturday to win as hosts of the Patriot Invitational.
Haley Knapke followed Fiely for the Indians with six kills and six blocks, and Hannah Kaup totaled seven service points and five digs. Sierra Pugh put up eight assists, and Cassidy Rammel had five kills.
Jay County got 14 digs and six service points from junior Rachel Ferguson. Bre McIntire and Kylie Osborne finished with eight kills apiece.
FRHS rallied to win the junior varsity match 24-25, 25-16, 25-11. Rachel Pugh had 14 service points, including four aces, 10 digs and six assists for the Indians, and Julie Wendel added 11 service points and eight digs.
Mallory Marshall finished with nine kills, six service points, five aces and five digs for Jay County.
WJ closes with wins
DUNKIRK — The West Jay Middle School volleyball teams closed their seasons with wins Tuesday as the eighth graders topped visiting Hartford City 25-16, 25-14 and the seventh grade team won 25-16, 25-9.
Lillian Rogers dominated in the service game for the Eagle eighth graders as she totaled 15 points and six aces to go along with five kills. Hannah Chapman added five service points, and Alli Campbell notched three kills.
Chloe Trissel finished with 12 service points and nine aces to lead the WJMS seventh grade team. Kady Finnerty had 12 service points and four aces.
FRMS spikers split
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery’s seventh grade volleyball team picked up its 10th win of the season Tuesday 25-7, 15-25, 25-21 over the New Knoxville Rangers. The eighth graders lost, 25-6, 25-14.
Madi Grover set the pace for the seventh grade Indians (10-6, 4-4 Midwest Athletic Conference) with eight service points and seven assists. Kiah Wendel racked up 14 service points, Carley Stone had five kills and Alexis Bubp totaled six digs.
Devin Post finished with five service points, three digs, three assists and two blocks for the FRMS eighth grade squad (4-12, 0-8 MAC). Abby Wenning added two kills.[[In-content Ad]]
