Fort slams Trojans

ARCANUM, Ohio — Shelby Brunswick powered the Fort Recovery High School volleyball team Monday as it pulled to .500 with a 25-10, 25-13, 25-13 victory over the Arcanum Trojans.
Brunswick dominated the service game, scoring seven of her 15 points by way of aces for the Indians (4-4). The senior also had 18 assists and 12 digs.
Holly Brunswick racked up 15 kills, and Kylie Kahlig had seven kills. Abby Backs scored seven points.
The Tribe junior varsity team rallied for a 20-25, 25-20, 25-15 win over Arcanum.
Kayla Kahlig totaled 16 points, 15 assists and three kills in the victory.
Makayla Westgerdes had 15 points, and Amy Link finished with four kills.
SA soccer falls
MONROEVILLE — The South Adams girls soccer team fell to a 6-3 defeat Monday against the host Heritage Patriots.
The Starfires (0-5-1), who tied Jay County Saturday, got a hat trick from Rachel Simon in the defeat.
Brianna Nevil finished with five saves.
Fort freshman roll
FORT RECOVERY — Wyatt Blockberger tossed a couple of touchdown passes Monday as the Fort Recovery freshman football team clobbered the New Bremen Cardinals 28-0.
With FRHS (1-2) already leading 6-0, Blockberger tossed a screen pass to Kyle Timmerman early in the second quarter. He took the ball 65 yards to the end zone, and Blockberger later connected with Mitch Vagedes on a 6-yard scoring strike.
Ben Dilworth and Alex Wenning each added scoring runs, Blockberger tossed a 2-point conversion pass to Bobby Mattraw and Cody Grube had a 2-point conversion run.
Tribe 8th wins
FORT RECOVERY — Haley Knapke helped rally the Fort Recovery eighth grade volleyball team to a 22-25, 25-13, 25-23 victory Monday over the Celina Bulldogs. The seventh graders lost 27-25, 25-11.
Knapke racked up 13 service points, eight kills, three digs and two blocks to lead the eighth graders. Tori Lennartz had 14 kills, Karla Eichenauer scored 12 points and Cassidy Rammel totaled 11 assists.
Trisha Thien had six points, a kill and an assist for the seventh graders. Morgan Lennartz finished with eight points and one kill.[[In-content Ad]]
