The Portland Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications in five different categories for Jay County residents.
One scholarship is available to a student or students attending John Jay Center for Learning on a full or part time basis in a degree seeking program. This category will award up to seven $500 scholarships.
The Marseal T. DeWeerd, Edith T. Horn and Virgie M. Brady Memorial Scholarship is available for a full-time college level junior or senior. It will be renewable for up to four semesters at $200 per semester. Preference will be given to a Penn township resident to honor the request of Ms. DeWeerd.
The Dr. Ara C. and Gay B. Badders Medical Scholarship is for a Jay County student seeking a doctoral degree in a medical field and grants $2,000 per semester for up to six semesters.
The Alwyn Carder Scholarship is for a full-time college junior or senior for a student pursuing a degree in architecture, history or education. The scholarship is for $750 per semester for up to four semesters.
The Altrusa Club of Portland Scholarship is for a woman continuing her education. GED graduates are encouraged to apply and the scholarship is for $250.
