Foundation offers endowments (03/13/08)
Taking Note
Individual community endowments have been created within The Portland Foundation, and Jay County communities are being encouraged to build the endowments thanks to a $1 to $1 match.
The foundation will match each dollar raised for a community endowment up to $5,000. Each community will be able to advise how income on the endowment is used in the form of local grants.
Contributions to the endowment funds, which are tax deductible, may be sent to:
•The Pennville Community Endowment.
•The Redkey Community Endowment.
•The Dunkirk Community Endowment.
•The Bryant Community Endowment.
•The Salamonia Community Endowment.
•And the Portland Community Endowment.
In care of The Portland Foundation, 112 E. Main St., Portland.
Gifts to the endowment funds may be made in honor of someone or as a memorial.
Coin show
The Old Fort Coin Club will have a Coin and Currency Show on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Allen County Fairgrounds, 2726 Carroll Road, Fort Wayne.
There is free admission and free parking.
Lecture
Sara Wagar, tribal elder and former principal chief of the Piqua Shawnee tribe, will lecture on Saturday, April 5, at the Jay County Historical Museum as part of the National Center for Great Lakes Native American Culture, Inc. lecture series.[[In-content Ad]]
