FR freshmen fall in opener

FORT LORAMIE, Ohio — First-half scoring struggles led to a 25-21 season-opening loss for the Fort Recovery High School freshman girls basketball team against the Fort Loramie Redskins.
The Indians went without a point in the opening quarter and scored just four in the second. They rallied in the second half, but the comeback fell short.
Jackie Fullenkamp and Breanna Jutte each scored five points to lead FRHS.
Jessica Vogel added five points.
Chiefs win big
WINCHESTER — The East Jay Middle School girls basketball teams each improved to 2-1 Monday with blowout wins over host Driver. The eighth graders dominated for a 37-6 win while the seventh grade team posted a 40-11 victory.
Malarie Houck scored nine points to lead the eighth grade Chiefs, who shut out Driver in the first half. Catherine Dunn added seven points.
Gabby Hart and Abby Wendel each reached double figures for the EJMS seventh graders with 11 and 10 points respectively. Ava Kunkler added six points.
Tribe teams fall
RUSSIA, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s eighth grade girls basketball team opened its season with a 44-30 loss Monday to the Russia Raiders. The seventh graders also lost, 36-18.
Tori Lennartz led the eighth grade Indians with nine points. Kara Jutte followed with eight points.
Hallory Leuthold finished with six points for the seventh graders, who got outscored 21-8 in the fourth quarter. Mikayla Post scored four points.
WJMS drops pair
West Jay’s seventh grade girls basketball team lost 23-8 Monday against Blackford, and the eighth grade team lost 36-5. Both squads are now 0-2.
Mekayla Nichols had four points for the WJMS seventh grade team. Serrena McCaffery added two points.
Courtney Finnerty and Mariah Schaadt each scored two points for the eighth grade squad.[[In-content Ad]]
