FR girls earn No. 1 seed

The Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team was selected as the No. 1 seed for the Division III girls basketball sectional tournament Sunday.
The Indians (13-3) will get a bye through the first round for the Division III tournament at Van Wert and will play for the sectional championship Saturday, Feb. 27, at 6:15 p.m.
The tournament will open Tuesday, Feb. 23, with a pair of opening-round games. Fairview will take on Lima Central Catholic at 6:15, and Paulding will meet second-seeded Coldwater (9-6) at 8 p.m.
Fort Recovery will play the winner of the Fairview/Lima Central Catholic game in the first of Saturday's two sectional title games. The second title game will pit Parkway (8-8) against the Paulding/Coldwater winner at 8 p.m.
The two champions will advance to the district tournament at Napoleon.
SA boys fall to Woodlan
WOODBURN - Tied late in the third quarter and trailing by just three with 6:31 to play, the South Adams boys basketball team had a chance to halt its skid. Instead the host Woodlan Warriors went on an 8-0 run and handed the Starfires a 69-62 defeat.
SAHS (1-13), which lost its 12th straight, fell behind by as many as 14 in the final quarter before clawing back to within five on a Nick Teeter 3-pointer with 14 seconds remaining.
Teeter poured in a career-high 40 points, but no other Starfire player reached double figures. He hit seven 3-pointers and finished 13-of-22 from the field and 7-of-9 from the foul line.
Spencer Mumma led Woodlan (2-14) with 24 points. Brock Hines added 15, James Brames had 12 and Clint Romines scored 11.
