FR softball halts skid

BOTKINS, Ohio — The skid is over.
After more than three weeks without a victory, the Fort Recovery High School softball team got back in the win column Saturday by topping the Botkins Trojans 13-9 and 13-3 in a doubleheader.
Jackie Fullenkamp smacked a home run in the opening game for Fort Recovery (4-15), which took control with a seven-run second inning. She drove in three runs and scored twice.
Taylor Guggenbiller went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, five RBIs and three runs in game two.
Beca Tobe earned the game-one win, allowing four runs — three earned — on five hits and six walks in 4 1/3 innings. Ashley Homan went the distance in game two, limiting Botkins to one earned run on two hits and two walks.
The Tribe had lost 15 in a row since defeating Russia 15-8 on March 27.
JV baseball win
FORT RECOVERY — The Indians built a 4-0 lead and never trailed in a 12-7 victory over the Botkins Trojans.
Derek Backs notched two hits, including a double, and three RBIs for Fort Recovery (2-15). Ryan Muhlenkamp had a double, three runs and two RBIs, and Mike Joash had a single, three RBIs and two runs.
Ray Siefring scored three runs, and Grant Hull added a pair of runs.
Nate Lochtefeld earned the victory, giving up four runs — two earned — on one hit and eight walks in six innings. Backs tossed one inning of relief.
Huelskamp leads
NEW BREMEN, Ohio — Caitlyn Huelskamp earned the lone victory for the Fort Recovery Middle School girls track team at Friday’s Cardinal Invitational hosted by New Bremen.

The Tribe boys were last with 11 points while Minster took the title with 116.5.
Huelskamp’s win came in the high jump as she took first place at 4 feet, 8 inches. She also finished fourth in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 42.97 seconds, and fifth in the 1,600 run in 5:56.07.
Wes Wenning added a second-place finish in the boys high jump at 5 feet, 4 inches.
Chelsea Timmerman was the runner-up in the 100 hurdles in 17.91.
