Frasher to speak at historical musuem
Taking Note
David Frasher will speak tonight at 7 p.m. at the Jay County Historical Museum, 903 E. Main St. in Portland. He will discuss Gerorge Codling and J. Esta Taylor. The two were featured in a display at the Jay County Fair last year and the display will also be at the first open house at the museum on Sunday, April 15, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Girl Scouts of America is celebrating its 100th anniversary with the 2012 Scouting for Food campaign. The goal is to collect 100,000 pounds of food to give to food banks.
Local troop nos. 02342, 30826 and 02347 are collecting 100 pounds of food to give to area food banks.
Donations may be brought to Bloom’s Discount Store in Portland or area schools.
Concert
Indiana Wesleyan University will have the Christian group Shonlock on Friday at 8 p.m. at the IWU Chapel Auditorium. Their song “Something in your Eyes” has recently been played on Christian radio.
The cost is $5 or five non-perishable food items. For more information, see www.indwes.edu/Fusion.

Jay County Public Library will have story times on Monday, April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 11:15 a.m. and Tuesday, April 3, 10, 17 and 24 at 11:15 a.m.
The Cookbook Club will meet on Monday, April 9, at 6:15 p.m. Bring a dish made with Easter leftovers and table service.
The Book Discussion Group will meet Monday, April 16, at the library to discuss the book “The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake” by Aimee Bender.
Two Beginner’s Internet Senior Style classes for those 55 and older will be held at the library. The first is Friday, April 6, and the next is Wednesday, April 18, both from 10 a.m. to noon. Register by calling the library at (260) 726-7890.
The library is looking for interesting pieces of art for an upcoming silent auction. Anyone who would like to donate, may call Molly at the library.
