Free blood pressure checks to be given

Taking Note

Free blood pressure checks will be given on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the clubhouse at Limberlost Apartments in Geneva.

The apartments are located at 556 Bristol Drive. There will also be an open house of the apartments.

Heritage Festival

The 7th annual Jay County Heritage Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jay County Historical Museum, 903 E. Main St. in Portland.

The theme this year will be "When There Were Eight." "One Big Reunion of the 8 Former High Schools of Jay County."

There will be large displays of memorabilia inside the museum from each of the former high schools in Jay County.

There will also be programs on stage to honor each high school featuring school songs, fashion shows of school wear and memories.

On Saturday, Bryant will be honored at noon; Gray at 1; Madison at 3 p.m.; Pennville at 4 p.m. and Redkey at 6; Dunkirk will be Sunday at noon; Poling at 1 p.m. and Portland at 2:30 p.m.

Livestock expo

Two Ridgeville residents will travel to Louisville, Ky., to participate in the 36th annual North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) to be held Nov. 7 to Nov. 20 at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

Kyle Garringer has entered to show five sheep in the junior market lamb division and Travis Garringer has entered one head of beef in the junior steer division.

The NAILE is recognized as the world's largest purebred livestock show with more than 22,000 entries and nearly $700,000 in prizes and awards.[[In-content Ad]]
