Free blood pressure clinic set (03/29/07)
Taking Note
A free blood pressure clinic will be held the first Wednesday of each month from 9 to 10 a.m. at CrownPointe Assisted Living, across from Haynes Park in Portland.
The clinic is provided by State of the Heart Home Health and Hospice.
Open house
An open house will be held at The Jay County Historical Museum on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. The featured display will be photographs of early New Corydon, made from glass negatives taken in the early 1900's, from the collection of Kirk Reed.
The museum is located at 903 E. Main St. in Portland and admission is free.
Story times
Jay County Public Library will have story times on Monday, April 2, 9, 16 and 30 at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, April 3, 10 and17 at 1 p.m.
Story times are for children infants and older children accompanied by an adult. Four or five books will be read aloud, followed by a craft. Call ahead if there will be a large group.

Family Fun Time will be Thursday, April 5, at 9:30 a.m. for children and caregivers. There will be stories, toys, music and instruments to share.

National Library Week will be celebrated April 16 to 21 at Jay County Public Library.
A free book bag will be given the first time a book is checked out during that week. Also tours of the library will be given.

Internet for beginners classes will be held Thursday, April 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 7, from 9 to 11 a.m.

The book reading group will read "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult in April. The group meets the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m.

Grief classes
State of the Heart Home Health and Hospice will begin grief education classes on Monday, April 9. The classes will meet on five consecutive Mondays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The support group is for adults grieving the death of a loved one, recently or in the past. The classes are free and will be held at the hospice office at 410 W. Votaw St. in Portland.
