Free concerts set in Dunkirk
Taking Note
The Dunkirk Beautification Committee is once again sponsoring The Webster-Depot Park 2009 Summer Concert Series.
All concerts are free and are performed on Saturdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Food and drinks are available for purchase.
Jerry and Judy Cole from Farmland will perform on June 20. The concert is sponsored and hosted by Dunkirk Kiwanis and Millers Merry Manor.
Mix-Factory, made up of members Craig Selvey and Jeff Irving from Albany, will perform Karaoke music on June 27. The concert is sponsored by Dunkirk Beautification and hosted by Delta Theta Tau Sorority.
The Classics from Ohio will perform 50's and 60's music on July 11. The concert is sponsored by Cliff and Midge Green and hosted by Greens and Fagers.
Billy Gee and Linda Lee will perform country music on July 18. The concert is sponsored by The City of Dunkirk and hosted by city officials.
The Trojan Band from Richmond will perform 50's, 60's and 70's music. Their website is TheTrojanBand.com. The concert is sponsored and hosted by Dunkirk Elks Lodge no. 1776.
Thunder Road (formerly R & R Classics) will perform 50's and 60's rock 'n roll on Aug. 1. The concert is sponsored by Dunkirk Beautification and hosted by Crown City Cruisers.
Phillips Guild German Band will perform on Aug. 8. The concert is sponsored by St. Mary's Altar and Rosary and hosted by Dunkirk Lions Club.
Faere Winds from Jay County will perform Irish Memories on Aug. 15. The concert is sponsored by Dunkirk Beautification and hosted by First Financial Bank.
Spittin' Image, twins from Greenville, Ohio, will perform on Aug. 22. The concert is sponsored by The Portland Foundation and hosted by Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority.
Book signing
Portland native Susan Schenck will discuss her book "The Live Food Factor" on Tuesday, June 23, at 6:30 p.m. at Jay County Public Library. She will answer questions about the raw food diet.
A book signing will follow. Copies will be available for $12.
