Business moves
A Redkey farm equipment company has moved to Albany.
Mike Rinker, owner of Rinker's Farm Equipment, recently announced that his business has moved from its location along Ind. 67, just south of Redkey, to the former site of the Craig Trucking Terminal building, also located along Ind. 67 in Albany.
Rinker made the move because the new site has a larger display lot and an inside shop where he can work on customers' tractors.
The business had been at its former location since 1999.
Zoning granted
A height variance has been granted, allowing the construction of an ethanol plant in Mercer County, Ohio.
The East Jefferson Township Board of Zoning Appeals voted 302 to approve the request. Mercer Energy plans to start construction at the site, which is located off Ohio 29, in the spring. The work is expected to take 18 months to complete.
The plant will employ 50 full-time workers with a median annual salary of $60,403. The $150 million facility is expected to create 50,000,000 gallons of ethanol per year.
Promoted to manager
Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance has a new district sales manager.
Mike Roth, a graduate of Ball State University, Muncie, has been named to the new position. He has worked for the company since 1991.
He will cover District 2, which includes 20 counties, including Jay County.
Muselmans honored
A Berne couple recently was posthumously awarded the Berne Chamber of Commerce's Lifetime Achievement Award.
Art and Gloria Muselman, who were killed in a traffic accident in Wells County in August, were chosen for the award for their religious, civic, educational and philanthropic works throughout Berne and southern Adams County.
The award was presented to the couple's children, Roger Muselman and Karen Thomas, accepted the award on their parents' behalf during the chamber's annual banquet.
The couple also is credited with playing a role in the development of the Swiss Village retirement community. The also owned The Berne Tri-Weekly News, and Dynamic Resource Group.
More pumps
A new program has been created to increase the number of E85 pumps at fuel stations across Indiana.
To obtain this goal, the Indiana Corn Marketing Council has designed a grant program which helps fuel retailers with the cost of converting fuel storage tanks to hold the fuel, which is 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline.
With the program, fuel retailers are eligible for grant of up to
$5,000. The grant funds can be used to clean fuel storage tanks, to ready the tanks for E85.
