Free mammograms offered (03/05/07)

The Women's Giving Circle is still offering free mammogram screenings, but the eligibility requirements have changed.

To be eligible for free screenings, women must be age 40 or older; a resident of Jay County; have not had a mammogram in the past year; have not had breast implants; have no personal history of breast cancer; have the name of a doctor who will accept the screening results.

The free screenings are offered through funds by The Portland Foundation. For a referral form, call (260) 726-4260.

Community calendar

The Redkey Area Chamber of Commerce is creating a community calendar for events to be held in the Redkey area.

Any organization who wants their meeting date or special event information listed on the calendar, may call chamber secretary Terry Heston at (765) 369-2013 no later than the 20th of each month to be put on the following month's calendar.

Calendar items will include name, date, time and place only. The calendar will be posted on the chamber web site at redkeychamber.com; will be in the foyer of MainSource Bank in Redkey; in the Redkey Town Hall foyer and the Redkey Post Office lobby.

The first calendar is set to be posted in April.

Anyone wishing to rent the Redkey Community Center (park cabin) should contact Terry Heston at (765) 369-2013 or Dottie Quakenbush at (765) 369-2412. Keys may be picked up at 211 W. Main St. in Redkey.
