ST. MARYS, Ohio — The best season in more than a decade ended with back-to-back losses.
Fort Recovery High School’s baseball team tied the game in the sixth inning Thursday, but could not come up with another run as it lost 3-2 in nine innings to the host Memorial Roughriders.
The Indians finished their season at 15-14 as they posted their highest win total since going 18-8 in 2001.
Shane Pottkotter suffered the loss in the season finale, giving up one run in four-plus innings of relief. Chad Schroer started and allowed two runs in four innings.
Pottkotter finished 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the FRHS offense, and Jacob Muhlenkamp had two hits and a run. Cole Wendel doubled and scored a run.

Softball loses 20th
ARCANUM, Ohio — Fort Recovery suffered its 17th straight loss and 20th of the season Thursday, falling 10-1 to the Arcanum Trojans.
Arcanum took control with six runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Indians (1-20) scored their only run in the fourth inning, and the Trojans responded with one in the fifth and three in the sixth for the final margin.
Ashley Homan gave up 10 runs, only three of which were earned, on eight hits and three walks in six innings as she suffered the loss. She struck out two batters.
Maleia Fullenkamp singled and scored the lone run for the Tribe, and Kelsee Ontrop had a hit and an RBI. Trish Thien finished with two hits, and Chelsea Timmerman added one.

JV baseball loses
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery junior varsity baseball team eked out a 6-5 victory Thursday over the visiting Memorial Roughriders.
Memorial rallied from a 5-0 deficit to tie the game with two runs in the top of the seventh, but the Indians scored the game-winner in the bottom.
Jacob Westgerdes led the Tribe (8-10) with a single, two RBIs and a run. Kyle Schroer had two hits and an RBI.
Nate Lochtefeld earned the win in relief as he recorded the final two outs of the seventh inning.[[In-content Ad]]
