Felony arrests
Five felonies
A Portland man was arrested on five felony charges stemming from an early March accident in which he and two others were injured.
Jeremy S. Hathaway, 27, 520 E. Walnut St., was arrested Thursday on charges of neglect of a dependent, a Class B felony; two counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing injury, one Class B felony and one Class C felony; operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class D felony; auto theft, a Class D felony; and driving while suspended, an infraction.
Police said Hathaway was intoxicated when he wrecked a stolen pickup truck near Walmart in Portland on March 2, in which his four-year old son and the driver of the other vehicle were injured.
He was arrested on a Jay Circuit Court warrant and taken to the Jay County Jail, where he was being held on a $45,000 bond as of this morning.
Drug arrest
A Portland man was arrested on three drug-related charges Thursday evening.
Bobby Allen Barker, 42, 113 S. Munson St., Portland, was arrested on two counts of possession of a legend drug and one charge of maintaining a common nuisance, all Class D felonies.
Police responded to a report of drug activity from Barker’s home and accompanied Child Protective Services on a call to the house. Police obtained a search warrant and allegedly discovered prescription medications not prescribed to Barker in the residence.
He was arrested by the Tri-County Drug Task Force and taken to the Jay County Jail where he was being held this morning on a $4,500 bond.[[In-content Ad]]
