Ronnie Atkinson

April 10, 1965-July 29, 2008

Ronnie Lee Atkinson, 43, Dunkirk, died Tuesday at Jay County Hospital.

Born in Portland to Roger P. and Margie D. Blankenship-Atkinson, he had worked at The Star Press for 20 years and The Commercial Review for 10 years.

He was awarded carrier of the month by The Commercial Review in 2004. He was an avid follower of NASCAR, Indiana University, and Jay County Patriots.

Survivors include his father, Roger Atkinson, Dunkirk; a brother, Kenneth A. Atkinson, Dunkirk; two sisters, Mrs. Bill (Patty Ann) Bye, Hartford City, and Mrs. Don (Margaret A.) Jasinski, Dunkirk; four aunts and several nieces and nephews.

Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Dunkirk with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O. F. Cemetery in Dunkirk.

Visitation is Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church.

MJS Mortuaries-Dunkirk Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family in care of MJS Mortuaries.

Bonnie Ford

Feb. 10, 1930-July 31, 2008

Bonnie Lee Ford, 78, Hartford City, died Thursday at her home. She was a cousin of Jay County residents.

Born in Hartford City to William C. and Mary L. (Morris) Kirkwood, she was married on March 31, 1950, in Hartford City to Richard "Dick" Wayne Ford, who survives.

Other survivors include a son; a sister; three grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. in Hartford City, with the Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.

Visitation is today from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 117 W. Franklin St., Hartford City, IN 47348.

Robert Shepherd

June 27, 1939-July 28, 2008

Robert A. Shepherd, 69, Winchester, the father of a Portland man, died Monday at Ball Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

Born in Winchester, he was the son of Raymond Leroy and Helen Ada (McCartney) Shepherd.

Survivors include a son, Charles "Chuck" Shepherd, Portland; a daughter; an aunt; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held at a later date and there will be no visitation.

Thomas Memorial Chapel of Lynn is handling the arrangements.

Gabriel Serjern

Gabriel Michael Serjern, the infant son of Eric J. Serjern and Felicia M. Schertler, was stillborn Wednesday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. His mother is from Pennville.

Services are pending at the Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home.[[In-content Ad]]
