CITY ACCIDENT

A garbage truck collided with a parked vehicle Wednesday at 12:07 p.m. in the south drive of AmeriCare Living Center of Portland.

Mitchell L. Kidd, 33, 1908 South 625 West, Farmland, told police he was backing up in the south drive of AmeriCare, located at 200 N. Park St., when the garbage truck he was driving collided with the rear driver’s side fender of a parked 1988 Ford Thunderbird. The Thunderbird was registered to Sharon and Robert Williams, 110 S. Walnut St., Ridgeville.

The garbage truck is registered to Waste Management of Indiana, LLC, 2221 Mount Pleasant St., Muncie.

Damage was estimated between $750 and $1,000.

BURGLARY

A rural Portland woman reported to county police that the lock on her shed had been cut sometime on Wednesday.

Elsie Miller, 7370 South Como Road, told police that the door to her shed was open and asked officers to investigate.

Upon arrival, county police discovered the lock to the shed had been cut and was laying on the ground. Miller checked the shed and could not find anything missing.

TURKEY MEETING

A representive from the National Wild Turkey Federation will host a meeting in mid-January in hopes of starting a local NWTF chapter.

Randy Showalter, senior regional director in Indiana for the organization dedicated to conservation and restoration of wild turkeys, has scheduled the meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Jay County Public Libarary.

Members of the public who are interested in the topic of conservation or turkeys are invited.

The meeting is expected to last about 90 minutes.[[In-content Ad]]
