Marijuana arrest
Jay County Police arrested two men on marijuana charges Thursday.
Tanner Scott Schlichter, 18, 7678 W. 650 North, Bryant, was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana, a Class D felony. Also arrested in the same incident was Randy Hutzler, 18, 3135 E. 300 South, Portland, on a charge of possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.
Police stopped the car being driven by Schlichter at the intersection of Ind. 67 and Ind. 26 for a non-working license plate light and a misplaced expiration sticker.
During the stop, police allegedly discovered that Hutzler was in possession of two marijuana cigarettes. Police also allegedly found a bag of marijuana in the vehicle.
Schlichter was charged with a felony due to the alleged amount of marijuana found in the bag.
Both men were released Thursday. Schlichter was released on a $3,000 bond and Hutzler was released on $1,000 bond.

Money stolen
A Portland man was arrested for allegedly making an unauthorized withdrawal from his grandmother’s bank account.
