Marijuana arrest
Jay County Police arrested two men on marijuana charges Thursday.
Tanner Scott Schlichter, 18, 7678 W. 650 North, Bryant, was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana, a Class D felony. Also arrested in the same incident was Randy Hutzler, 18, 3135 E. 300 South, Portland, on a charge of possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.
Police stopped the car being driven by Schlichter at the intersection of Ind. 67 and Ind. 26 for a non-working license plate light and a misplaced expiration sticker.
During the stop, police allegedly discovered that Hutzler was in possession of two marijuana cigarettes. Police also allegedly found a bag of marijuana in the vehicle.
Schlichter was charged with a felony due to the alleged amount of marijuana found in the bag.
Both men were released Thursday. Schlichter was released on a $3,000 bond and Hutzler was released on $1,000 bond.
Money stolen
A Portland man was arrested for allegedly making an unauthorized withdrawal from his grandmother’s bank account.
Wade R. McDavid, 516 E. Main St., was arrested on a count of theft, a Class D felony.
Police received a call from McDavid’s grandmother Phyllis Simpson, same address, who informed them that someone took $1,130 from her savings account at Crossroads Federal Credit Union.
Police said that McDavid allegedly took the money out of the account without authorization.
He was taken to the Jay County Jail, where he was still being held as of this morning on a $3,000 bond.[[In-content Ad]]
