Hits deer
A vehicle driven by a Berne woman struck a deer in Wayne Township Thursday at 11:40 p.m.
Jessica M. Fox, 20, 1520 Shady Oak Drive, told Jay County police she was driving east on county road 100 South, west of county road 100 East, and a deer jumped in front of the car. She could not avoid hitting the animal with the 2000 Ford Mustang.
Damage to the car, registered to James A. Fox, same address, was estimated at $1,000 to $2,500.
In area courts
In Celina Municipal Court recently, William C. Jutte, 22, Fort Recovery, pleaded no contest to an amended charge of operating a vehicle without reasonable control. He was fined $150, ordered to pay court costs and his driver's license was suspended for 120 days. Charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and speeding were dismissed.[[In-content Ad]]
