Slide off
A Hartford City woman slid off a Richland Township road Wednesday morning, causing her vehicle to roll onto its side.
Debra C. Reese, 51, 120 W. 5th St., Apt. 601, was traveling east on county road 600 South west of county road 600 West when her vehicle slid on the ice, exiting the road on the north side, where it rolled and came to rest on its driver side door.
Reese suffered a head injury in the accident and was treated by Jay Emergency Medical Service.
An estimated $2,500 to $5,000 of damage was caused to her 1999 Chevrolet Cutlass in the 9:42 a.m. accident.
Items stolen
A Noble Township resident reported that some items were stolen from his property before Thursday evening.
Johnnie Sparrow, 8612 East 200 South, Portland, told police that some scrap metal and a set of wheels were stolen from his property. He reported the incident at 5:47 p.m.
Geneva fire
Geneva firefighters responded to a chimney fire about three miles east of Geneva Monday morning.
The department responded to the call at the home of Joe Schwartz, 1192 East 900 South, Geneva at 10:54 a.m. Fire crews left the scene by 11:42 a.m.
Turning accident
A Bryant woman and Geneva man were involved in an accident in Adams County Friday evening.
Diane M. Schmidt, 64, Bryant, was turning out of a private drive near county road 800 South in Adams County, when her vehicle collided with a northbound van being driven by Thomas W. Foster, 65, Geneva.
Foster suffered a neck injury during the accident, but refused treatment.
Estimated damage was between $2,500 and $5,000 in the 5:18 p.m. accident.
In area courts
In Celina Municipal Court recently, Christopher W. Denton, 21, Ridgeville, pleaded no contest to operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was sentenced to three days in jail, was fined $375 and he was ordered to pay court costs. His driver’s license was suspended for six months.
Charges of blood-alcohol content and failure to use turn signals were dismissed.
In the same court, John A. Wycuff, Fort Recovery, was fined $23.50 for a stop sign violation.
In Adams Superior Court, a dissolution of marriage was granted to Christopher Wilson, Westville, and Jennifer L. Wilson, Geneva.
In Celina Municipal Court recently, Amber M. Huntsman, 30, 1682 Philothea Road, Fort Recovery, pleaded no contest to three counts of passing bad checks. She was sentenced to three days jail and court costs.[[In-content Ad]]
