Executive session
The Portland Aviation Board will hold an executive session Wednesday at 3 p.m.
The meeting will be held to discuss initiation of litigation or litigation that is pending or has been threatened.
The purchase of real property also will be discussed.
The event will be held in the meeting room at the Portland Fire Station, 1616 N. Franklin St.
The city has expressed its desire to purchase land needed for the runway and taxiway extensions for several years.
Grant awarded
The City of Union City recently received $1.2 million in federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program funds to fix up a residential neighborhood.
The funding will be used to acquire and rehabilitate seven foreclosed homes, clear 11 blighted properties, and construct three single-family homes in the downtown.
The project was selected for its goals of providing affordable housing and increasing housing values in Union City.
Exchange weekend
The Jay County High School Student Exchange Club will host exchange students from all over the world this weekend.
Students from Poland, Hungary, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Indonesia, India, Thailand, China, Taiwan, South Korea and Brazil will be attending JCHS today.
The exchange students will also attend the high school basketball game tonight, along with a dance.[[In-content Ad]]
