John Burris

Services were held today for John Michael "Mike" Burris, 61, New Castle. The brother of a Portland man, he died Wednesday at his home.

The son of Glenn and Elva Burris, he was married on Feb. 18, 2003, to Rose Overman, who survives.

Other survivors include a stepson; four sisters; two brothers, including Joe Sommers, Portland; and 10 grandchildren.

Macer Hall Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth Jauregui

Sept. 20, 1921-July 15, 2008

A Mass of Christian burial was held today for Ruth I. Jauregui, 86, Decatur. A Portland native, she died Tuesday at Swiss Village in Berne.

The daughter of Harry and Mabel M. (Thomas) Blount, she was married on Nov. 23, 1938, to Russel Jauregui, who died on March 3, 2001.

She was a dietitian at Wells County Hospital and Caylor-Nickel Clinic, both formerly of Bluffton.

Memberships include St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur and the Women of St. Mary's.

Survivors include a son, Russel H. "Sonny" Jauregui, Decatur; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Mariana) Tharp, Decatur; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home in Decatur was in charge of the arrangements. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur.
