Emma Armantrout
Dec. 20, 1927-June 22, 2010
Services for Emma Jean Armantrout, 82, Berne, were held today. She died Tuesday at her home.
Born in Kendallville to Thomas and Nettie Jane (Boze) Haviland, she was preceded in death on July 22, 1984, by her husband Glen Armantrout, whom she married on Feb. 10, 1945, in Geneva.
She had worked as an LPN for seven years at Swiss Village Retirement Center, Jay Garment in Portland and CTS in Berne.
Survivors include a brother, Roger Houtz, Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Ardena Houtz, Dayton, Ohio; and a niece.
Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 100 W. Line St., Geneva, IN 46740.
Downing and Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva was in charge of the arrangements. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery in Geneva.
Thelora Mason
June 26, 1914-June 24, 2010
Services for Thelora M. Shoemaker Mason, 95, Berne, are Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Swiss Village Chapel with Pastor Max Haines officiating. She died Thursday at Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne.
Born in Jay County to Elmer H. and Edith Pearl (Priest) Avery, she was preceded in death on Dec. 7, 1996, by her second husband John Mason, whom she married on Nov. 30, 1985.
She was also preceded in death on June 14, 1983, by her first husband Homer Vaughn Shoemaker, whom she married on June 3, 1936.
While living near Bryant, she attended Bryant Wesleyan Church and was a member of First Missionary Church in Berne.
Survivors include three sons, John Shoemaker (wife: Ruby), Fort Wayne, Melvin Shoemaker (wife: Glenna), Palm Springs, Calif., and Donavon Shoemaker (wife: Viola), Jersey City, N.J.; a daughter, Carolyn Fletcher (husband: Harlow), Berne; two stepsons, Ed Mason (wife: Karen), Berne, and Jerry Mason (wife: Bev), Carmel; two stepdaughters, Karen Sharp (husband: Tony) and Jan Tomano (husband: Dan), both of Berne; a brother, Cloyce Avery; a sister, Eileen Diehm, Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren and 20 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation is today from 2 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday at Swiss Village Chapel. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bryant.
Memorials may be sent to Swiss Village or Indiana Wesleyan University Scholarship Fund.
Arrangements are being handled by Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne.

Services for Karen Ann Sweeney, 44, Celina, Ohio, were held Tuesday at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina. A member of a local church, she died Saturday at Golden Living Center in Lima, Ohio.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of John and Lynn (Hawk) Sweeney, Celina.
She was a member of New Life Ministries in Portland.
Surviving besides her parents are a daughter and grandparents.
Memorials may be sent to St. Rita's Hospice in Lima or Golden Living Center Activity Fund.
