Board to meet
On Wednesday, at 8:30 p.m., the Jay County Community Corrections Advisory Board will be meeting about and voting on the strategic plan.
The meeting will take place at the new location at 120 N. Commerce St., Portland.
Goes off road
A vehicle driven by a Muncie man went off the road in Greene Township this morning.
Glen D. Adkins, 37, 3208 S. Vine St., told Jay County police he was driving east on Ind. 26. When he approached county road 300 West, he did not realize how sharply Ind. 26 turned. He braked but could not slow down in time to make the turn. His 2004 Dodge Intrepid went off the road, down a steep ditch and into a field.
The 2:50 a.m. accident caused damage to the car estimated at $1,000 to $2,500.
Parking lot accident
Two vehicles collided in the parking lot of a car dealership in Portland on Thursday.
A 1999 GMC truck driven by Dennie R. Sumwalt, 61, 8396 West 500 North, and a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by G. C. Moses, 59, 1110 Detroit Ave., Portland, collided at Ken Kunkle Chevrolet, 414 N. Meridian St.
Sumwalt told Portland police he was backing up in the parking lot and did not see Moses pulling onto the parking lot behind him. The vehicles collided.
Combined damage to Sumwalt's truck and Moses' car was estimated at less than $1,000.
