Local notes
Rockets tryout is Sunday
The Portland Rockets adult amateur baseball team will hold a workout and tryout for the upcoming season Sunday.
The session will be at Portland Memorial Park’s Runkle-Miller Field beginning at 1 p.m. The Rockets are scheduled to open their season May 29.

Registration open for T-ball
Registration is open for Jay Community Center’s summer T-ball league.
The league is for children ages 4 through 6, and the season will run from May 31 through June 27. The registration fee is $37.50 for one child, $65 for two children in the same family and $82.50 for three or more.
There will also be a T-ball clinic at JCC from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on May 24 and 26.

Boys basketball camps scheduled
The Jay County High School boys basketball program will hold two summer camps
The camp for seventh and eighth graders will be May 23 through 26 from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m. daily at the JCHS gym. The camp for kindergarten through sixth graders will be June 14 through 17 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. daily in the JCHS auxiliary gym.
