Correction
In Thursday's edition of The Commercial Review, information provided with a photo of the Jay County Christian Academy donation was incorrect. Students donated $80 to the Jay County Cancer Society.
Backing up accident
Vehicles driven by a Portland man and a Dunkirk woman collided Thursday at 4:27 p.m.
A 1990 Oldsmobile Royale driven by Joe D. Nelson, 76, 708 E. Arch St., and a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Hope A. Pettus, 40, 126 Third St., Dunkirk, collided on North Commerce Street.
Nelson told Portland police he was parked at the former Portland Fire Station and began to back onto Commerce Street. At the same time, Pettus was attempting to park at the courthouse. The vehicles collided just north of Main Street.
Combined damage to the vehicles was estimated at less than $1,000.
Home burglarized
Several items were stolen from a rural Pennville man's home on Thursday.
The burglary occurred between 10:35 a.m. and 12:55 p.m. at the home of Clyde Hudson, 11156 West Balbec Road. A bathroom window was broken to gain entry.
A guitar, two flat screen televisions, a safe containing $500 in cash and papers, 13 necklaces, two jewelry boxes and five rings were stolen.
Game system taken
A Portland resident told police that someone stole a video game system and two games from her home.
Jessica Hiestand, 210 E. High St., told Portland police that a PlayStation 2 and two games were taken sometime on Wednesday. She reported the theft Thursday at 1:53 p.m.
