Trial set

An Ohio man sentenced to prison time for robbing a local motel at gunpoint is set to go to trial in another case.

Michael Adams, 23, Bellefontaine, is facing a charge of prisoner possessing dangerous knife or material, a class B felony. His one-day Jay Circuit Court jury trial is set to begin July 22 at 9 a.m.

The charge was filed against him on March 26, while he was being held in the Jay County Jail. On Feb. 13 he allegedly possessed a metal shank that he made out of a bed sheet and metal from a heating vent.

Adams was sentenced in January to 10 years in prison, with credit for time served since his Sept. 29 arrest. On that day, he robbed the Budget Inn, Portland.
