CITY ACCIDENT
A car driven by a rural Portland woman struck a parked sport utility vehicle registered to a Portland business on Thursday at 10:18 a.m.
Martha A. Friddle, 49, 7039 West 300 South, told Portland police that she was backing into Spruce Alley, which runs east-west between Commerce and Meridian Streets, near Ken Kunkle Chevrolet, when she struck a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, registered to Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, 221 N. Meridian St., Portland.
Damage to Friddle’s 1998 Ford car and Baird-Freeman’s SUV was registered between $1,000 and $2,500.
COUNTY ACCIDENTS
A car driven by a rural Hartford City man went off of a road in Greene Township on Wednesday at 6 a.m.
Ryan J. Tarr, 21, 815 South 75 East, said he was driving east on county road 200 South, near county road 200 West. Tarr told Jay County police he was adjusting something in his car and that it went off of the south side of the road.
Tarr overcorrected and his car crossed the road and struck the ditch on the north side of the road.
Damage to Tarr’s car was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
A sport utility vehicle struck driven by a rural Pennville woman struck a utility pole in Wayne Township on Thursday at 10:20 a.m.
Jackie R. Houck, 46, 6766 West 200 North, Pennville, told Jay County police she was driving east on county road 200 North, about 450 feet east of county road 200 West when she went off of the south side of the road and struck a utility pole, registered to REMC.
Damage to Houck’s 2003 Jeep Liberty was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
DEER ACCIDENT
A collision with a deer caused damage estimated between $1,000 and $2,500 to a Middletown man’s pick-up truck on Thursday in Knox Township.
Brian R. Schuyler, 50, 1300 Marie St., told Jay County police that he was driving west on Ind. 26, about 600 feet west of Ind. 1 about 9 p.m. when a deer came onto the road.
