Marijuana arrest
A Portland woman was arrested early this morning on a felony marijuana charge.
Erica L. McIntire, 24, was arrested for possession of marijuana, a Class D felony, and refusal to identify, a class A misdemeanor.
Possession of marijuana, while usually a misdemeanor, is elevated to a felony if the suspect has a prior conviction of possessing more than 30 grams.
Police investigated a car that was parked on the side of the road at county roads 100 North and 100 West with no lights on. The officer allegedly smelled marijuana and discovered the drug during a search. McIntire was a passenger in the car.
The car’s driver, Nathan M. Ross, 28, 1072 E. Ind. 26, Portland, was also arrested on a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.
McIntire and Ross were taken to the Jay County Jail. McIntire is being held on $4,000 bond and Ross was released on a $1,000 bond.[[In-content Ad]]
