Saw and pop stolen
A rural Salamonia woman told police that someone stole a circular saw and pop from her vehicle.
Anna Bash, 4608 East 900 South, told Jay County police that she heard noises outside her home between 4 and 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday. At 5 a.m. that day, she went outside to her 1992 Plymouth and found a rear door opened. Five 12-packs of pop and a circular saw in a black bag were missing.
Vehicle scratched
A rural Redkey resident told police that someone scratched his vehicle while he was working at Pennville Custom Cabinetry, 600 E. Votaw St., Portland.
David Chilcote III, 11807 West Ind. 28, said his 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer was scratched between 6 and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The tailgate, rear fender and passenger side rear door were damaged.
Medication stolen
A caretaker for a Portland man told police that someone stole his medication.
Elaine Ruth, who takes care of Alvin D. Colbert, 600 S. Meridian St., Apt. 109, told Portland police that medications are mailed to Colbert’s home. The post office told her that the most recent delivery was made on Aug. 14. However, Colbert never received the medication. Ruth said she believes the medication was stolen.
She reported the theft Thursday at 10:58 a.m.
Mailbox damaged
A rural Portland man told police that someone knocked over his mother’s mailbox.
Roger Domingo, 1511 West 100 South, said the mischief occurred sometime late Friday or early Saturday at 1601 West 100 South.
Backed into
A Portland man backed into a postal truck causing minor damage Thursday afternoon.
William D. Blowers, 75, 305 E. Walnut St., was stopped eastbound on Votaw Street at the intersection with Wayne Street when he began backing up to allow a school bus to turn left onto Votaw. Blowers backed into a postal truck behind him, being driven by Julie A. Ninde, 43, 7257 Staeger Road, Celina, Ohio, causing minor damage to his vehicle.
Less than $1,000 of damage was caused to Blowers’ 2009 Honda Civic. No damage was caused to the postal truck in the 3:14 p.m. accident.
In area courts
In Blackford Superior Court recently, Susan M. Jones Miller, Redkey, was found guilty of check deception, a class A misdemeanor.
She was sentenced to one year in jail, with one year of credit for time served. She was ordered to pay $164 in court costs and $650.38 in restitution to Alco Discount Store.[[In-content Ad]]
