Fugiett powers Cheetahs

Local roundup

DUNKIRK — Most of Saturday’s games were loaded with offense, but one was a classic defensive battle.
Danuel Fugiett scored the only goal of the final game of the day, lifting his Cheetahs to a 1-0 victory over the Tigers in the West Jay Community Center Summer Soccer League. The win improved the Cheetahs to 2-0.
Maddox Huffman was the leading scorer for the second straight week, finishing with 13 goals in the Sting Rays’ 16-5 victory over the Whales. Gabriela Bilbrey scored nine times as the Lightning defeated the Twisters 12-2.
Ben Crouch and Zaaron Lee each scored seven goals to lead their teams to wins, and Ian Ruiz and James Rogers each scored once as the Hurricanes and the Thunder finished in a 1-1 tie.

Camerons lift
Cameron Lawhead and Cameron Clark lifted their teams Friday as both Portland Junior League Rookie baseball games were decided by a single run.

Jacob Hart and Trenton Webster powered the J&P win, each finishing with three hits, four RBIs and three runs. Tarron Bentz went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs to lead Williams.
