Local roundup

The Indians will be well-represented in the district all-star match.

Tiff Gaerke and Abby Niekamp, both seniors, earned spots on the Division IV District 8 All-Star volleyball team, which was announced Monday. They make Fort Recovery one of four Midwest Athletic Conference schools to have two players on the team.

On the heels of being voted MAC Player of the Year last week, Gaerke was voted to the first team for the third straight season. Niekamp made the second team, and both will play for the West squad in the District 8 All-Star Match Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Wapakoneta.

Gaerke is one of the top attackers in the state with her 476 kills on the year. She also has 211 digs and 128 blocks.

Niekamp has racked up 817 assists and 50 blocks.

Duke also capped the scoring against Delta with a 20-yard scoring run in the third quarter.

Julian Myers started the scoring in the victory over Delta with a 40-yard TD run in the first quarter.
