Genealogy workshop is set

There will be a Genealogy Workshop on May 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the morning session held at the Jay County Historical Museum and the afternoon session held at Jay County Public Library.
The guest speaker will be Suzette Randall from the Family History Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Volunteer week
National Volunteer Week is April 21 through 27 with the theme “Celebrate Service,” and two blood drives are scheduled in Jay County.
The first is Monday, April 29, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Bryant Wesleyan Church at 209 S. Hendricks St. in Bryant.
The next is Tuesday, April 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at
Jay Community Center in Portland.

Poet to visit
Jay County Public Library and Arts Place in Portland will present “George Bilgere: Poetry as Art and Entertainment” in May.
Bilgere will have a free poetry reading on Friday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. at Arts Place in the Hall Moser Theatre at 131 E. Walnut St.  RSVP at (260) 726-4809 or email [email protected].
He will also teach a  poetry writing  workshop on Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at the library at 315 N. Ship St. To register, call (260) 726-7890 or email [email protected].
