Geneva alumni banquet set (05/30/08)

The Geneva High School Alumni Banquet will be held Saturday, June 14, at 6 p.m. at the Geneva School and reservations are now being accepted. The class of 1958 will be honored and the classes of 1938 and 1948 will be recognized.

Summer reading

The Adult Summer Reading Program at Jay County Public Library will have a kick-off event on Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with the first 25 people to register winning a prize.

Fair competition

The Jay County Fair Domestic Arts and Culinary Open Class Competition entitled "Let's Create for '08" will be held July 28 through Aug. 2 in the Women's Building during the Jay County Fair.

Participants must be at least 18 years old. A list of rules, classes, contests and entry times is available at the Extension Office, 504 W. Arch St. in Portland. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Classes are also available for age eight and younger, ages nine through 12 and 13 to 17.

Dean's list

- Alex Hunt made the dean's list for the second semester at Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C. He is a junior majoring in professional golf management and business administration. His parents are Randy and Julie Hunt, Portland.

- Roxanne Yorn-Stewart, of Portland, made the dean's list at Oakland City University in Oakland City. She is a sophomore majoring in business management.

- David Knoth and Matthew Knoth made the dean's list for the spring semester at Purdue University School of Pharmacy in West Lafayette. Their parents are Richard and Priscilla Knoth, rural Bryant.

- Katie L. Alberson made the National Dean's List for the spring semester of the 2008 academic year. She graduated in April from Indiana Wesleyan University.

- Keith Alan Sprunger, Berne; Alexander D. Rediger, Geneva; and Brad James Fortkamp, Fort Recovery, all made the dean's list for the March session at the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima, Ohio.

Art classes

The Geneva Branch of the Adams Public Library System in conjuction with the South Adams Arts Council will have art classes in July at a cost of $5 per class or $20 for all. More information is available at the Geneva Library.[[In-content Ad]]
