Geneva tours scheduled monthly (05/13/08)

Taking Note

Guided tours of the Loblolly Marsh or one of the other restored wetlands in the Limberlost Territories in Geneva will be held the first Saturday of each month through October.

Participants need to meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva for orientation and then drive their own vehichles to the site at 10 a.m. for a guided tour. The tour will end at approximately noon.

Attends meeting

Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Portland Chapter members Tammy Lyons and Sarah Link recently attended its annual meeting at the Bloomington Convention Center in Bloomington.

The Indiana State Association of Psi Iota Xi meets each spring to elect officers and award philanthropic grants.

Receives awards

Cody Grady, a sophomore at Wabash College in Crawsfordsville, received the Annie Crim Leavenworth French prize and Erminie Leonardis Theater History Award at the annual Wabash College Student Awards and Honors Program.

The Leonardis award is given to a student who has done outstanding work in the study of theater history, dramatic literature or criticism.

Grady is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Grady, Redkey.

Shannon O'Dell of Pennville, was awarded the Herbert Willett Assistantship in Business Administration during the recent Honors Convocation at Defiance College.

The award is given each year to an upperclass business or economics major with a 3.0 or better grade point average and provided a combination grant and work opportunity in the business administration department.

To study in Brazil

Jeff Thomas Hurst has been accepted to study climate change and culture in Brazil.

Hurst is a sophomore at the University of Washington in Seattle and is entering the chemical engineering program.

He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Hurst and the grandson of Mrs. Louanna Hurst, Portland.[[In-content Ad]]
