German club to hold Octoberfest
Taking Note
The German Club at Jay County High School will host its annual Octoberfest on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the South hallway of the high school.
Foods available will be spaetzle noodles, potato salad, blackforest cake and apple strudel.
There will also be a German cultural display and German music.
Arts and Humanities
Arts Place in Portland will celebrate National Arts and Humanities Month throughout October by honoring the efforts of artists, historians and cultural groups.
Crystal Vicars-Pugh's exhibit will be on display through November.
Arts Place farmers' market will be held each Saturday in October from 2 to 5 p.m.
The Annual Membership Meeting will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Muncie Symphony Orchestra performance at 7:30 p.m.
Michael Perry, author of "Truck: A Love Story" will speak at Jay County Public Library as part of Jay County Reads on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 6:30 p.m. A book signing will follow at 7:30 p.m.
A Face Painting Workshop will be Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Little Shop of Horrors play will be presented Thursday, Oct. 29, Friday, Oct. 30, Saturday, Oct. 31, and Sunday, Nov. 1.
Ceramics classes for youth will be held on Tuesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and for adults on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, call Arts Place at (260) 726-4809.

Quilt show
The 8th annual Callithumpian Quilt Show will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 25, from noon until 4 p.m. at Riverside Center, 231 E. Monroe St. (Ind. 224) in Decatur.
To enter a quilt in the show, bring it to the center on Friday between 2 and 6 p.m. and complete an entry form and pick up the quilt on Sunday from 4:30 to 5 p.m. Categories are Pieced, Mixed Technique, Miscellaneous, Garments, Quilts Made by Kids and Wall Hangings up to 48".
There will be approximately 200 quilts on display and a trunk show will be Saturday at 1 p.m. by quilter Susan Lesh.

Katie Snyder of Portland will show a junior shorthorn head of beef at the 36th annual North American International Livestock Exposition to be held Nov. 7 to 20 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky.[[In-content Ad]]
