Gibson to fill new position at John Jay

Josh Gibson, a graduate of Ball State University and Jay County High School, will fill the newly-created position of workforce education/advancement director at John Jay Center for Learning.
The position has been created to improve the quality of workforce education available to area employers.
Gibson, who serves as an assistant football coach at Jay County High School, most recently worked for FCC (Indiana) as coordinator of training and development. He and his wife Kristin live in rural Portland.

Trails donation
First Bank of Berne recently donated $25,000 to South Adams Trails Inc. to help the group’s efforts to build a walking trail from Geneva to Berne. The donation will help to build parking and restroom facilities at the trailheads.
Headed to Peoria
James Brosher, a 2006 Jay County High School graduate, is continuing his internship travels.
Just a week after completing his summer internship at the Austin American-Statesman in Texas, he will begin another internship for the Peoria (Ill.) Journal Star. He will work as a photographer for the newspaper, which has a circulation of about 65,000.
Brosher, who graduated from Indiana University in May, was named the 2009-10 college photographer of the year by the Indiana News Photographers Association. He served two internships at The Commercial Review and two at the South Bend Tribune before his work in Texas this summer.

Telecommunications provider CenturyLink is offering assistance programs for low-income consumers.
Link-Up and Lifeline are available to consumers and may help to cover the costs of initial hookup and monthly phone bills.

Cooper Farms Cooked Meats recently held an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony as it opened a new 50,000 square foot expansion at its plant on Ohio 127 north of Van Wert, Ohio.
About 75 people attended, including State Rep. Lynn Wachtmann (R-Napolean) and U.S. Rep. Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green), who spoke at the event.
Cooper Farms is family owned and operated since 1938 and operates a location in Fort Recovery.
Networking luncheon
John Ketzenberger, president of the Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute, will give a presentation on Indiana fiscal policy at the next Jay County Chamber of Commerce networking luncheon.
The program will be held Aug. 31 at noon at Jay County Hospital. Cost for lunch is $8.[[In-content Ad]]
