Longtime Jay County residents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Gillespie, 125 W. Second St. in Portland, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday.
Melvin married Phyllis Elmore on June 25, 1955, at the First Presbyterian Church in Portland.
Phyllis retired from Naas Foods after 31 years and Melvin retired as manager of Rodefeld’s Auto Parts.
They are the parents of two sons, Randy and Eric Gillespie, both of Portland. They also have two granddaughters.
The couple will celebrate with a family dinner on Sunday.[[In-content Ad]]
