Grief group to meet (8/27/03)
Taking Note
A grief support group will be held for six Wednesdays beginning Sept. 10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in conference room C at the Jay County Hospital.
The free group is being hosted by Patti Stahl, bereavement specialist of State of the Heart Home Health and Hospice. It is for adults who are mourning the loss of a loved one, no matter when that person died.

• Thursday, Sept. 4 — Internet for Beginners, 6-8 p.m.; adults; registration required.

• Monday, Sept. 15 — Book Reading Group to discuss, The Good Soldier, 7 p.m.

• Friday, Sept. 26 — Book signing with Alan Garinger, 4:30-6:30 p.m.

• Tuesday Sept. 30 — Youth Advisory Board kick-off party, grades 7-12, 7-8 p.m.
• Mondays Story Times at 11:15 p.m. and Tuesdays at 1 p.m.
GRADUATE
Matthew Steven Smith, son of Steven and Betty Smith, 803 E. Division Road, Portland, recently received his associate’s degree in computer network engineering from Westwood Tech College in Woodridge, Ill.
He plans on returning in October to pursue his bachelor’s degree in computer management.
RETIRED TEACHERS
The Jay County Teachers met Aug. 11 at Westchester United Methodist Church with 27 members and three guests attending.
A program on autism was given by Marcie Short.
The next meeting will be held Oct. 13 at Asbury United Methodist Church with a program presented by Robert Read. All retirees are invited to attend.
FREE WHEELS
The Senior Wheels USA Program helps seniors (65 and older) obtain electric wheelchairs at no cost to the recipient if they qualify.
The program helps those who cannot walk or self-propel a manual wheelchair, and who meet additional guidelines of the program. No deposit is required.
