The Energize-ECI Regional Planning District, which includes Jay County, was elected to the membership in the Indiana Association of Regional Councils.
The council is a statewide association of 14 organizations providing regional planning services in coordination with local governments.
The planning district, consisting of Jay, Blackford, Delaware and Grant counties, was recently formed as none of the members were part of a regional effort.
OSHA update
Doug Koogler of INSafe will present an Occupational Safety and Health Adminstration seminar in December with a focus on recordkeeping.
The seminar will take place on Dec. 2 at the Holiday Inn Express in Portland. Koogler will speak about changes in OSHA standards and speak about changes in recordkeeping rules.
The seminar is free for Jay County Safety Council members and $50 per person for non-members. Registration forms should be returned to the Jay County Chamber of Commerce, 118 S. Meridian St., Suite A, Portland IN 47371.

Eye seminar
Dr. Steven A. DeGroff of Family Eye Care in Berne and Winchester recently attended a seminar on eye diseases and surgical vision correction.
The seminar was presented by the Corneal Research Foundation of America, Indianapolis, and featured lectures by eye surgeons involved with leading research.
New drive-up
First Bank of Berne opened up drive-thru service at its new branch and expects the lobby to be ready by Nov. 25.
The new branch, located on U.S. 27 in Berne, opened its drive-thru window on Nov. 6 as its prepares to fully open the location. The bank is operating through the new building's drive-thru, while the lobby of the old building remains open.
The new branch will replace the current location next door, which has been in service for 36 years.
Society meeting
The American Society for Quality East Central Indiana Section 904 will meet Nov. 18 with featured speaker Paul Baker.
Baker, senior technical staff member at Thomson Inc., will speak about literacy in the workplace and design for Six-Sigma. A certified ASQ quality engineer and Six-Sigma Black Belt, he has worked for Thomson and its predecessors for nearly 30 years.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at Sirloin Stockade near McGalliard and Morrison roads in Muncie.
ASQ Section 904 serves Jay, Grant, Madison, Blackford, Delaware, Henry, Randolph and Wayne counties.
Networking luncheon
The next Jay County Chamber of Commerce networking luncheon will be held Nov. 24. Blake King and John Kotski of G6 Communications will present "Computer Security - Is Your Business Safe?"
