Guitarist at Arts Place
Taking Note
Classical guitarist Robert Bluestone will perform Friday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Arts Place in Portland.
He will also hold workshops in Redkey and Portland schools the week of Oct. 11 through Oct. 15 as part of a residency program presented by Arts Place in Portland.
The workshops are designed to promote awareness of the role music plays in everyday life.
Bluestone will meet with band and choir students at East Jay Middle School, Portland, on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 9 a.m.
He will be talking to Redkey Elementary School fourth and fifth grade art and music students on Friday, Oct. 15, at 8 a.m.

A teen candy making program will be held Tuesday, Oct. 12, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Jay County Public Library.
The class is for sixth through twelth grade students and registration is required.

Story times will be held at the library on Monday, Oct. 11, and 18, at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 12 and 19, at 1 p.m. Children ages infant and up are welcome accompanied by an adult.
Baby story time will be Thursday, Oct. 21, at 9:30 a.m. for infants up to 24 months. Baby-oriented activities will be included.

GED classes will be offered at the West Jay Community Center in Dunkirk each Wednesday from 9 a.m. till noon.

A Story Time with Dad workshop will be held on Thursday, Oct. 14, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Minnetrista Cultural Center in Muncie.
A book will be provided and the session will include a book-related project, reading aloud.
The cost is $5 per child and is due today. Register by calling (765) 213-3549.
HOME TOURS
The Preservation Society in Union City will present its Fall Tour of Homes on Sunday, Oct. 17, from 1 to 6 p.m.
Featured homes will be a Victorian brick home, a Craftsman home with original fixtures, a rectory renovated in Craftsman style, a country home and two modern homes for contrast.
Tickets are $7 and are available at the Antique Mall in downtown Union City or at the Winchester Chamber of Commerce.
Also Friday, an authentic German dinner, prepared by the society will be served at 103 N. Columbia St. in Union City from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
The cost is $10, with a $2 discount if you buy the tour and dinner tickets together.
Reservations are required by Wednesday, Oct. 13, at (765) 964-3203.
