HAM radio a Swiss Days attraction (07/26/06)

The Adams County Amateur Radio Club will set up a working Ham radio station Friday and Saturday in Berne as part of Swiss Days. The station will be in the fellowship hall of Berne Church of the Nazarene, 604 Sprunger Street, and the special call sign will be W9A.
The operation will begin Friday at 8 a.m. and continue through Saturday and will operate with both voice and code communication on the shortwave bands. Wire antennas will be strung in hopes of contacting Switzerland and other countries.

Castle contest
Winners of the castle contest at Jay County Public Library have been announced.
Winning first place was Pat Knoth's daycare kids, including Joey and Erika Nuckols, Kristen and Kylie Bickel, Mya Walker and Nathaniel Lykins.
Second place winner was Kaitlen Wood.
Third place went to Scott, Karen, Jimmy, Allie and Charlie Barry.
Castles need to be picked up by Monday, July 31 and winners will be contacted when prizes are ready to pick up.
Prize bags
Children and teens who completed the summer reading program at Jay County Public Library need to pick up their prize bags by Monday, July 31. A total of 4,534 books were read during the six-week program.
MusicWorks lessons
Arts Place is accepting registrations for its fall MusicWorks lessons in Portland and St. Marys, Ohio.
Registration brochures are available in Portland or at 128 South Front Street in St. Marys.
Classes in Portland begin September 11 and continue through May 16, 2007 and classes begin Aug. 9 in St. Marys.
