Heritage Festival is this weekend (09/26/07)

The fifth annual Heritage Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Jay County Historical Museum, 903 E. Main St in Portland.
The festival this year will honor Elwood Haynes, who was born in Portland 150 years ago on Oct. 14, 1857, and will feature Elwood Haynes presentations on stage both days from 2 to 3 p.m.
There will be a native American camp, candle dipping, antique tools and vehicles, storytellers, a blacksmith, wood carving, sheep shearing, a cider press operation, pottery making and weaving and quilting demonstrations.
The Voyageurs Fife and Drum Corps, Faere Winds and the Red Garter Banjo group will perform on Saturday. Faere Winds and the Fort Wayne Shrine Bagpipe Band will perform on Sunday. There will also be Civil War re-enactors.
Kettle cooked ham and beans will be available on Saturday and kettle cooked chili on Sunday. There will also be other food available.
