MARSH SHOWS INCREASE
Marsh Supermarkets Inc. reported an income increase for the 16-week period that ended in early October.
The net income for the quarter was $375,000, which is compared to $306,000 during the same period last year. Sales and other revenues for the second quarter were $508,955,000 compared to $512,722,000 last year, a decrease of 0.7 percent. Sales in comparable supermarkets and convenience stores decreased by 1.9 percent, down to $472.1 million from $481.1 million.
The decline is believed to be attributed to a weak economy, high unemployment and competitive new supermarket square footage.[[In-content Ad]]
