Hollow Block show scheduled
Taking Note
The 11th annual Hollow Block Monster Car, Truck, Motorcycle and RatRod Show will be Saturday, July 21, from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
The event will be held at the Tri-State Engine Grounds and all proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Indiana.
To pre-register, call Duane Harter at (260) 729-3500 or email [email protected]. The cost is $7.
Registration will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on the day of the show and will cost $10. Dash plaques, goody bags and t-shirts will be given to the first 100 people to register.
Arts awards
Indiana Coalition for the Arts Foundation, Inc. is seeking nominations for its 2012 Community Arts Leadership Awards for those advancing the cause of community and local arts in Indiana.
Awards will be given in four categories — Arts Professional, Arts Educator, Arts Advocate and Volunteer Board Member/Arts Leader.
Award recipients and their nominators will be invited to an awards ceremony on Nov. 1 at the Indianapolis Arts Garden.

Dean’s list
These Jay County High School graduates were named to the dean’s list at Manchester College for the fall of 2011 and the spring of 2012.
Holly Rittenhouse, a sophomore, majoring in elementary education.
William Smith, a sophomore, majoring in accounting and finance.
Megan Taylor, freshman, majoring in biology-chemistry.
Megan Huntsman, Portland, was named to the dean’s list at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill., for the spring semester.
100th birthday
Nell Glentzer Pensinger, a former Pennville resident, will celebrate her 100th birthday on July 10 with an open house at her home in LaPorte.
She is the sister of Joe Glentzer and Mary Newhouse of Jay County.
