Eric Homan is far-and-away the most experienced player the Patriots have. And Lakewood Park Christian could not slow him down.

The senior sparked a second-half rally Saturday night to lead the Jay County High School boys basketball team to a 58-44 victory over the visiting Panthers.

Homan racked up a career-high 28 points for the Patriots, who trailed by six at halftime. He shot 12-of-19 from the field, and had eight rebounds and a pair of steals.

After the slow start, JCHS (1-0) picked up its defensive pressure in the second half and outscored the Panthers 36-16. Lakewood Park Christian (0-1) managed just four points in the fourth quarter, and turned the ball over 22 times in the game.

Josh Beaty followed Homan with 10 points and three rebounds for Jay County, which committed just seven turnovers and shot 50-percent from the field. Brad Horn added nine points and three boards, and Garrett Krieg hit a couple of second-half 3-pointers for six points.

Kegan Comer had four steals, and Brock McFarland and Adam Daniels each contributed three assists.

Junior varsity

Two players reached double figures to lead the Patriots to a 40-28 win over Lakewood Park Christian.

Drew Houck hit 5-of-6 free throws in the fourth quarter and also hit two 3-pointers ash he led JCHS with 12 points. Stephen Scott scored all of hits 10 points in the second and third quarters.

Austin Cowan added five points, and Kegan Comer scored four.
