Local Roundup

Jay County’s Adam Homan will get to play a few more high school baseball games.

Homan was selected to play in the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Series Wednesday.

The three-game series between the North and South All-Stars will include a double-header at Memorial Stadium in Fort Wayne Saturday, July 12 and a a single game at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne Sunday, July 13. There will also be a home-run derby prior to the July 13 game.

The event will feature a banquet to honor the players July 13, with Notre Dame baseball coach Paul Meinieri as the guest speaker. Hoosier Diamond magazine will be presenting its annual awards at the banquet, including the Mr. Baseball award.

Homan, who played first base during his senior season with the Patriots, was the top offensive player on the team which spent most of the year in the Class 3A top 10, and finished 21-6.

He led the team with 35 hits and seven home runs, three of which came against border rival Fort Recovery in the first of his two six-RBI games this year. He also held top honors on the team with nine doubles, 33 RBIs, a .783 slugging percentage and a .422 batting average.

His outstanding year at the plate lifted him to a tie for the school record in career batting average.
